Parents' Letter (March 21, 2012)
Dear Chance Foundation founders!
We are asking you for financial assistance. Our child Timur was born at 29 weeks. His weight at birth was 1 400 g. He spent 20 days at the Intensive Care unit. Timur often got sick and got both intravenous and intramuscular injections. This might have caused the complications that affected his ears. Now Timur has severe bilateral hearing loss. We are trying to create good conditions for Timur — we buy nice clothes and a lot of toys for him, he takes horserides and attends a special school for hard of hearing children. But it's still not enough for enabling Timur to fully perceive the world. He doesn't hear many things… And he can't hear the most beautiful sounds: birds singing, water murmuring, leaves rustling. At a 1 meter distance Timur is not able to hear people speaking or calling him by his name. His friends call Timur and he can't hear. Socializing with kids is hard for Timur. But he has been adjusting well to a new environment and has been rather outgoing so far. To help our child we need good hearing-aids. And we will work hard to make the day when Timur understands speech and is able to speak closer.
Timur is an active and cheerful boy. He likes swimming, playing with his little 15-months-old sister, listening to the music by putting his ear close to the TV screen.
Our Dad has always been working hard. His last job was at a Moscow dairy plant. But after we learned about Timur's diagnosis he quit his job in order to be able to drive Timur to the classes. Unfortunately our Dad was hospitalized to a neurological department for a serious neural disorder. He is bedridden for now.
Our last hope is your foundation. We hope that new hearing-aids will help Timur hear better.
