Since May 2024, Sasha has been observed at the Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology. The girl has experienced a severe course of three-stage aplastic anemia. This is a rare, severe disease of the blood system, which is characterized by a decrease in the hematopoietic function of the bone marrow and is manifested by insufficient formation of shaped blood elements. Sasha has already undergone radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and bone marrow transplantation. In August, in a very early post-transplant period, doctors revealed the development of venoocclusive liver disease, a life-threatening condition. The only method of treatment for this complication is a course of "Defibrotide". Sasha started treatment with this drug, but the amount of it available at the cancer center was not enough to complete the full course. The required amount has been collected as part of the «Help without Delay» campaign.
