Meet the child
In January, Gleb was diagnosed with a severe form of an extremely rare disease - acquired aplastic anemia. The symptoms of acquired aplastic anemia occur as a consequence of the bone marrow failing to produce enough blood cells. The main clinical manifestations of the disease is severe anemia due to a decrease in the production of all types of blood cells by the bone marrow (red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets), and impaired blood cell function. The lack of white blood cells in the blood causes a weak resistance of the body and is fraught with the development of severe infectious complications. Specific symptoms vary from case to case. Patients with anemia may experience tiredness, increased need for sleep, weakness, lightheadedness, dizziness, irritability, headaches, pale skin color, difficulty breathing, and cardiac symptoms like chest pain. A state of serious deficiency of all blood cells is extremely life-threatening.
Gleb has been undergoing complex treatment at the Belarussian Research Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology in Borovlyany. At the moment, the child is in the hospital. The kid expects a vital bone marrow transplant procedure at the hospital. A bone marrow transplant is a procedure that infuses healthy blood-forming stem cells into the body to replace your damaged or diseased bone marrow. The donor will be his older brother. This treatment method gives a chance for a child to recover.
Unfortunately, serious complications of liver developed. Due to severe liver damage Egor needs Defibrotide drug therapy in the transplant period, as he is at high risk of developing serious life-threatening complications. The boy urgently needs therapy with a very expensive immunosuppressive drug Defibrotide.
Despite his diagnosis, Gleb courageously endures difficulties. His whole family hopes for a favorable outcome of the procedure.
Thank you for supporting the boy on his way to recovery!
