Three-month-old Evgenia Romanovich was diagnosed with a birth defect called spina bifida where there is incomplete closing of the backbone and membranes around the spinal cord. This disease typically causes problems with a sac of fluid present at the gap in the spine. With no due treatment the disease will lead to such complications as poor ability to walk, problems bowel and urinary control. The main purpose of the surgical treatment is to prevent disorder of the motor function as well as bowel and urinary control. Israeli specialists believe that there is a great chance to help the child if the surgery is made as soon as possible (at the age of 6 months). The surgery is planned for August 2017.
