Meet the child
Dasha Poloiko has been a ward of the Chance Foundation since 2017. Today she is already 15 and has a long way behind her. Dasha was born with multiple facial defects. From the very birth the girl was observed by Belarusian maxillofacial surgeons. Due to congenital pathology, she developed vision problems. The child underwent several operations, including the removal of eye tumors. Unfortunately, the doctors failed to completely remove the congenital pathology.
Specialists from the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute in Milan, Italy undertook to help Dasha, where she was offered a comprehensive multi-stage treatment.
To date, thanks to your help, Dasha has gone through four stages of surgical treatment. So, in May 2017, the first complex operation was performed to reconstruct congenital facial defects. The rehabilitation process was successful. In June 2018, Daria went through the next stage of treatment. After completing the required recovery phase in June 2019, she underwent the third phase of comprehensive orthopedic treatment at the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute, in May 2021 the fourth stage took place.
The next visit to the clinic was scheduled in a year. However, in the postoperative period, complications arose that required an urgent visit to the clinic to remove the emerging conjunctival cyst and restore the functions of the nasolacrimal canal.
