Meet the child
Artsiom was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in February 2013. Tumor is hardly accessible and involves large lymph nodes, which makes the surgery very complicated and requires unique professional skills. In the LMU University Clinic in Munich (Germany) medical specialists have long-term experience in successfully removing such tumors.
Doctors at the Clinic have confirmed their willingness to admit Artsiom for the medical examination on September 26. The operation is scheduled on October 8. THE PAYMENT TO THE CLINIC SHOULD BE MADE BEFORE 25 SEPTEMBER.
Chance Foundation will cover the costs of medical examination, surgery, transfer, accommodation for the family, interpreter`s services. We have only one week to raise necessary amount. We really need your help!
Prof. Dr. med. Dietrich v. Schweinitz, Klinikum der Universitat Munchen: Now I could study the CT scans of this patient together with our radiologists. The large tumor shows some response to the chemotherapy and should be operated after 6 courses of chemotherapy. This will be a difficult operation, but in most cases we are able to remove at least 90% of such neuroblastomas, which would be sufficient for a final cure. Before the operation we will have to do some more diagnostics, such as a MRI and a MIBG szintigraphy, which usually takes about a week. All in all the child will have to stay here in Munich about 4 — 6 weeks.
