At the end of December 2021, little Leonard developed a rash on his scalp, with itching and a febrile fever. The child suffered from acute left-sided otitis media. Conservative therapy was ineffective. Upon numerous examinations, the boy was diagnosed with histiocytosis caused by Langerhans cells. The start of special treatment was on July 7, 2022. But already in January 2023, progression was noted with lesions of the scalp, multiple lesions of bones, lymph nodes of the neck, and spleen. Since February 2023, the second line of therapy has been started in accordance with the protocol. Despite this, a CT scan carried out in August 2023 revealed signs of the disease's progression. Zelboraf has been on Leonard's schedule to receive since September 2023. The child's stabilization is observed despite taking this medicine. Starting in August 2024, Leonard is advised to keep taking Zelboraf 160 mg twice a day. Due to the medicine shortage at the Belarusian Research Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology, the boy's parents reached out to the foundation.
